Design philosophy -...Archaeologists work on what is left of the past.
This may be discovery (with archaeologists dealing in source materials, like historians). It may equally be a much more creative process of making things out of what is left of the past (the remains of the past treated as a resource). Above all I stress that all things archaeological are about relationships between the past and the present.
Three Rooms is an experiment in working with such archaeological ideas.
The past in the present, heritage, memory, seeking identity in the past, archives, writing history, material remains, decay and loss, tracking the past through its remains - detective work and cryptography.
See my notes on the archaeological imagination and a personal manifesto.
Here are some notes for those with an academic interest on Three Rooms as social archaeology.
